The useful question is not whether a facility takes students in general. Ask whether the right department can support the proposed Aspen project. Nursing Education may belong with staff development or competency. Informatics can fit clinical applications or documentation workflow. Administration can connect to quality, safety, operations, or leadership. Public Health may involve community prevention or education. Forensic Nursing needs a qualified specialty match, potentially in trauma, correctional health, advocacy, or another relevant service.
Use Delaware's official nursing source for regulatory questions
The Delaware Board of Nursing within the Division of Professional Regulation licenses RNs, LPNs, and APRNs and sets and enforces professional standards within its authority. Its official site provides license law, rules, scope information, license services, discipline information, and Board details. Students should refer to it for Delaware licensure and nursing-practice matters.
The Board does not decide whether a project satisfies an Aspen course. Aspen University and the Office of Field Experience, or OFE, review the site, preceptor, project, and academic paperwork. A Delaware organization separately controls its premises, data, privacy, onboarding, and project permissions. Board compliance, site permission, and Aspen approval are related considerations, but one does not substitute for another.
Check the MSN match before building the packet
Aspen's MSN specialties are Administration and Management, Forensic Nursing, Informatics, Nursing Education, and Public Health. The preceptor should be a site-affiliated RN with a master's degree and expertise relevant to the selected specialty. Ask about the nurse's graduate degree, current role, project experience, site relationship, and schedule before assuming the match works.
Each specialty has a 120-hour practicum. Administration separates those hours into N550 with 40 and N586AM with 80. Forensic Nursing, Nursing Education, and Public Health include at least 20 direct-care hours in the 120. Informatics and Administration have no direct-care minimum. Discussing this structure early prevents a Delaware department from agreeing to supervision it cannot actually provide.

Account for field work outside the final MSN practicum
RN-to-MSN students complete undergraduate field experience and later complete the 120-hour graduate practicum. Different stages may call for different activities, sites, or approval documents.
RN-to-BSN students should also avoid relying on a single unsupported total. Aspen lists N492 at 30 hours, N493 at 80, and N496 at 10. The course figures total 120, while the catalog heading says 110. OFE review establishes the official start
OFE assists with placement questions, approval, documentation, and alternative locations. A Delaware workplace may be a sensible first option, but it still needs review. The file can include a Site Affiliation or Practicum Site Agreement, signed Preceptor Agreement, the preceptor's CV and license report, the student's license report, a Student Profile, and the student's CV. The facility may add its own requirements.
Wait for the applicable Practicum Approval Letter before starting any hours. Then record approved time and required reports in ProjectConcert. A simple weekly check against the approved project and course objectives keeps the record focused. If duties or access change, raise the issue with the program and OFE instead of silently replacing approved activities with unrelated work.
DNP immersion requires on-site doctoral supervision
Aspen's DNP has 1,000 supervised immersion hours across eight 125-hour courses. Aspen may approve and bank up to 500 verified prior precepted hours. A Delaware DNP proposal needs an on-site, doctoral-prepared, site-affiliated preceptor with leadership and project expertise relevant to the work. The student should confirm that the site can support the project over its expected course sequence.
IRB approval must come before data collection or analysis. Site-level review may also be required, especially when a project uses organizational data or involves staff or patients.
