What the Kentucky placement needs to accomplish
Aspen University currently offers no nurse practitioner tracks. Its MSN students complete projects in Administration and Management, Forensic Nursing, Informatics, Nursing Education, or Public Health. Each specialty requires 120 practicum hours. A qualified MSN preceptor is a site-affiliated RN with a master's degree and expertise connected to the specialty, so the search is as much about the right department as the right individual.
DNP students need a different level of arrangement: an approved project site and an on-site, doctoral-prepared, site-affiliated preceptor with relevant leadership and project expertise. The DNP includes 1,000 supervised immersion hours in eight 125-hour courses. Up to 500 verified prior precepted hours may be approved and banked. In either program, define the project purpose, access needs, population, schedule, and supervision before asking a Kentucky organization to participate.
The Kentucky Board of Nursing has a separate role
The Kentucky Board of Nursing regulates nursing practice and credentials in the Commonwealth. Its official site provides license verification, laws and regulations, practice resources, education information, and consumer-protection functions. Keep those responsibilities distinct: Kentucky confirms the professional license, the organization decides whether it can host the work, and Aspen confirms whether the complete arrangement meets program requirements.
Search Kentucky by corridor and specialty
Louisville has large health systems, nursing education teams, public-health programs, quality offices, and clinical informatics departments. Lexington offers academic health settings, community organizations, and administrative teams. Northern Kentucky, including Covington and Florence, connects to a wider regional health market, but confirm that the approved site and licensed preceptor are located where your documents say they are. Bowling Green and Owensboro provide regional hospitals, schools, community-health programs, and local government partners.
Students farther east can consider Pikeville, Hazard, London, and surrounding Appalachian communities for public-health, workforce education, rural quality, and population-focused projects. Paducah and western Kentucky offer regional systems and community agencies that may fit education or administration work. Do not send the same generic message to every hospital. Contact the department that owns the problem your project addresses, such as staff development for Nursing Education, health information or applications for Informatics, or a local health department for Public Health.

Administration divides the work between N550 at 40 hours and N586AM at 80 hours. Make sure the Kentucky site can support the required type of activity, not merely provide enough calendar time.
RN-to-MSN students complete undergraduate field experience and later the 120-hour graduate practicum, so they should plan both stages rather than treating the graduate placement as the only field requirement. RN-to-BSN field experience is listed by course as N492 at 30 hours, N493 at 80 hours, and N496 at 10 hours. Those figures total 120 while an Aspen catalog heading states 110, so confirm the catalog and course requirements applicable to you.
Get the letter before beginning work
Many students first explore their Kentucky workplace. That can be practical, but workplace access does not replace approval. Materials can include a Site Affiliation or Practicum Site Agreement, signed Preceptor Agreement, preceptor CV and license report, student license report, Student Profile, and student CV.
