Nevada's two main metros are not the whole search
Las Vegas and Henderson have health systems, staff-development teams, informatics departments, quality offices, community programs, and administrative units. Reno and Sparks offer regional hospital, public-health, academic, education, and clinical-systems possibilities. Carson City may support state or regional organizational work. Students near Elko, Pahrump, Mesquite, or other communities can consider local and rural health settings when the department and qualified RN can support the project.
The site should be selected for function rather than size. A smaller regional organization may provide meaningful access to a public-health or quality project, while a large hospital may not be able to route an unsolicited request. Begin by identifying the team that owns the work and explaining the project in terms that department can assess.
Select the specialty lens before contacting sites
Aspen's MSN specialties are Administration and Management, Forensic Nursing, Informatics, Nursing Education, and Public Health. Nursing Education may involve competency, onboarding, simulation, or patient teaching. Informatics can fit clinical applications, documentation, or workflow improvement. Administration often connects to nursing operations, quality, safety, or leadership. Public Health may align with prevention, outreach, or population programs.
Forensic Nursing needs relevant nursing expertise and could fit correctional health, trauma services, advocacy, or another suitable program. For any specialty, Aspen expects a site-affiliated RN with a master's degree and expertise relevant to the project. Verify the person's credentials, role, site permission, and schedule before relying on the match.
The Nevada Board does not replace Aspen review
The Nevada State Board of Nursing regulates nursing licensure and practice and provides official license, verification, laws, discipline, education, and practice information. Nevada students and proposed preceptors should use the Board when they need authoritative state nursing information.
Aspen University and the Office of Field Experience, or OFE, review academic placement fit. The Board does not approve an Aspen course project or issue its approval letter. The Nevada organization also controls access, privacy, orientation, and project-review rules. All relevant approvals should be clear before the student schedules countable activity.
Make the hours visible in the project proposal
All Aspen MSN specialties include 120 practicum hours. Administration and Management divides those hours between N550 at 40 and N586AM at 80. Forensic Nursing, Nursing Education, and Public Health include at least 20 direct-care hours within the total. Informatics and Administration do not carry that direct-care minimum. The request should explain both the total and the kind of activity the student needs.
RN-to-MSN students complete undergraduate field experience before their graduate practicum, so the 120 graduate hours are one part of the field sequence. RN-to-BSN students should confirm the applicable catalog. Aspen lists N492 at 30 hours, N493 at 80, and N496 at 10, totaling 120, while the catalog heading states 110. Direct confirmation avoids an inaccurate schedule.

A workplace option still needs an OFE file
OFE assists students with placement questions, approval steps, and alternative locations. Many Nevada students explore their employer, but work access alone does not establish academic approval. Documents can include a Site Affiliation or Practicum Site Agreement, signed Preceptor Agreement, preceptor CV and license report, student license report, Student Profile, and student CV. The site may request additional forms.
Wait for the applicable Practicum Approval Letter before beginning. Approved hours and required reports are then entered in ProjectConcert. The student should keep the approved scope, objectives, and scheduled preceptor reviews together so the time record reflects purposeful project activity rather than ordinary job duties. DNP immersion requires on-site project leadership
The Aspen DNP includes 1,000 supervised immersion hours in eight courses of 125 hours each. Up to 500 verified prior precepted hours may be approved and banked. A Nevada DNP site requires an on-site, doctoral-prepared, site-affiliated preceptor with relevant leadership and project expertise. Long-term access should be discussed because the work can continue across courses.
IRB approval is required before data collection or analysis, and the organization may have its own review. Each student should confirm the proposed format, site, preceptor, and activities with Aspen and the Office of Field Experience before starting. DNP students must also follow Aspen's current on-site preceptor and project approval requirements.
