A large list of facilities is less useful than a short list of departments. Identify who owns staff development, clinical applications, nursing quality, public-health programming, or the specialized work behind the project. A precise department-level request is more likely to reach someone who can assess supervision, access, and timing.
Connect the Aspen specialty to the setting
Aspen's MSN specialties are Administration and Management, Forensic Nursing, Informatics, Nursing Education, and Public Health. Nursing Education may fit professional development, competency, simulation, or patient education. Informatics can align with clinical systems, documentation, or workflow. Administration often belongs with quality, safety, nursing operations, or leadership. Public Health can involve prevention, outreach, or community education.
Forensic Nursing calls for a genuinely relevant environment, which could include appropriate trauma services, correctional health, advocacy, or another specialized program. The proposed MSN preceptor should be a site-affiliated RN with a master's degree and expertise relevant to the specialty. The nurse and department must be able to support the actual project, not simply agree to a title.
The New Jersey Board regulates professional nursing
The New Jersey Board of Nursing within the Division of Consumer Affairs regulates nursing licenses and professional practice in the state. Aspen University and the Office of Field Experience, or OFE, make the academic decision about a site, preceptor, project, and document package. The Board does not issue Aspen's approval letter. A New Jersey organization may separately require compliance, privacy, onboarding, contracts, and project review. Aspen approval and facility permission must both be complete before hours begin.
Show the preceptor what 120 hours mean
Every Aspen MSN specialty has a 120-hour practicum. Administration and Management divides the total into N550 at 40 hours and N586AM at 80. Forensic Nursing, Nursing Education, and Public Health include at least 20 direct-care hours within the 120. Informatics and Administration do not have that direct-care minimum. A draft calendar and activity list make the commitment clear.
RN-to-MSN students complete undergraduate field experience before the graduate practicum, so the final 120 hours are not their only field work. RN-to-BSN students should confirm the applicable catalog. N492 lists 30 hours, N493 lists 80, and N496 lists 10, which add to 120, although Aspen's catalog heading says 110. The student's course and catalog guidance should settle the requirement.

The OFE sequence protects the official start date
OFE assists with placement questions, approval, documentation, and alternative locations. Many students investigate a New Jersey workplace, but employment does not replace review. Approval materials can include a Site Affiliation or Practicum Site Agreement, signed Preceptor Agreement, preceptor CV and license report, student license report, Student Profile, and student CV. Site-specific items may be added.
The student must receive the applicable Practicum Approval Letter before starting hours. Approved time and required reports are then recorded in ProjectConcert. DNP immersion needs sustained on-site support
Aspen DNP students complete 1,000 supervised immersion hours in eight 125-hour courses. Aspen may approve and bank up to 500 verified prior precepted hours. The New Jersey site needs an on-site, doctoral-prepared, site-affiliated preceptor whose leadership and project expertise match the work. Because the project can span courses, discuss continuity and access early.
IRB approval is required before data collection or analysis. The site may also require a quality, research, privacy, or organizational review.
