Regulatory and academic decisions stay separate

An Aspen MSN preceptor should be a site-affiliated RN with a master's degree and expertise relevant to the specialty. Each MSN specialty has a 120-hour practicum. Administration and Management divides the time between N550 at 40 hours and N586AM at 80. Forensic Nursing, Nursing Education, and Public Health include at least 20 direct-care hours. Informatics and Administration have no direct-care minimum.
RN-to-MSN students complete undergraduate field experience before their graduate practicum, so the final 120 hours are not their sole field component. RN-to-BSN students should verify the catalog that governs them. N492 has 30 hours, N493 has 80, and N496 has 10, which add to 120, while Aspen's catalog heading says 110. Confirmation from Aspen should guide the schedule.

Follow the OFE sequence before counting time
OFE assists with placement questions, approval, documents, and alternative locations. Many students begin with their North Dakota employer, but employment does not remove review. Approval materials can include a Site Affiliation or Practicum Site Agreement, signed Preceptor Agreement, preceptor CV and license report, student license report, Student Profile, and student CV. The organization may add its own requirements.
The applicable Practicum Approval Letter must be issued before hours begin. Approved activity and required reports then go into ProjectConcert. The student should keep entries tied to the approved project and course objectives, especially when preparation or meetings occur away from the main department.
DNP immersion calls for multi-course continuity
Aspen's DNP includes 1,000 supervised immersion hours in eight 125-hour courses. Up to 500 verified prior precepted hours may be approved and banked.
