Oregon geography changes the search, not the standards

Salem can support state, public-health, hospital, and organizational projects. Eugene and Springfield add regional care, education, and population work. Bend, Medford, and Corvallis may offer hospital, clinical-systems, staff-development, and community options. Coastal and eastern Oregon organizations can fit rural access, prevention, or quality projects when supervision and resources are available.
Students outside a large metro should define travel, site presence, and preceptor meetings in advance. A department may cover a broad region or operate with limited staff. That can still work when the project is appropriately scoped and the arrangement supports the entire course period.
A coastal or eastern Oregon student may also ask whether the organization coordinates with a larger regional team. Such a relationship can broaden project resources, but the approved site-affiliated preceptor must still provide the required supervision and the student must remain within the approved plan.
Find the right Oregon department for the specialty
Aspen MSN specialties include Administration and Management, Forensic Nursing, Informatics, Nursing Education, and Public Health. Administration can fit nursing operations, safety, quality, or leadership. Informatics may align with clinical applications, documentation, or workflow. Nursing Education can involve competency, professional development, simulation, or patient teaching. Public Health may connect to prevention or community programming.
Forensic Nursing requires a site and RN with relevant expertise, potentially in trauma, correctional health, advocacy, or another appropriate setting. The proposed MSN preceptor should be a site-affiliated RN with a master's degree and expertise tied to the specialty. Credentials and project fit should be checked before paperwork begins.
The Oregon Board regulates nursing practice
The Oregon State Board of Nursing regulates nursing licenses, practice, education, and discipline and provides official verification, laws, rules, applications, and practice resources. Students and proposed preceptors should use the Board for Oregon regulatory questions.
Aspen University and the Office of Field Experience, or OFE, decide whether the academic site, preceptor, project, and documents meet Aspen requirements. The Board does not issue Aspen's approval letter. The Oregon site separately controls access, privacy, orientation, agreements, and internal project authorization.
Make the hour plan specific to the course
Every Aspen MSN specialty includes a 120-hour practicum. Administration and Management separates it into N550 at 40 hours and N586AM at 80. Forensic Nursing, Nursing Education, and Public Health include at least 20 direct-care hours within the 120. Informatics and Administration do not carry that direct-care minimum. A prospective Oregon department should see the proposed activity mix and weekly schedule.
RN-to-MSN students complete undergraduate field experience before the 120-hour graduate practicum. They must plan both stages. RN-to-BSN students should confirm their applicable catalog because N492 lists 30 hours, N493 lists 80, and N496 lists 10, which total 120, while Aspen's catalog heading says 110. The student's current course guidance should settle the expectation.

Use OFE support while the plan is still flexible
OFE assists with placement questions, approvals, documentation, and alternative locations. Many Oregon students explore their employer, but a workplace site still needs academic review. Materials can include a Site Affiliation or Practicum Site Agreement, signed Preceptor Agreement, preceptor CV and license report, student license report, Student Profile, and student CV. Site forms may be added.
Wait for the applicable Practicum Approval Letter before beginning. Approved hours and required reports are recorded in ProjectConcert. Students should compare weekly entries with the approved scope and course objectives. If access or the project changes, ask the program and OFE how the approval is affected. DNP immersion needs an on-site doctoral-prepared preceptor
Aspen DNP students complete 1,000 supervised immersion hours in eight 125-hour courses. Up to 500 verified prior precepted hours may be approved and banked. An Oregon DNP site requires an on-site, doctoral-prepared, site-affiliated preceptor with leadership and project expertise. Students should confirm continuity and access across the project sequence.
